OVERVIEW

Our senior leadership has a passionate involvement with projects and infrastructure development, with their expertise being called on for advice and negotiations in Bangladesh, China, Sri Lanka, and Nepal. From leading the initial infrastructure push with LNG terminals and power plants in the early 1990s to the development of a robust legal framework for India’s electricity deregulation and unbundling exercise in the early 2000s to working with the Government of India and Planning Commission on developing PPP-based concessions for roads and ports, advising on Civil Nuclear Power Development in the late 2000s, working on InVit models, and now on green energy policies and developments, Saraf and Partners and its leaders have enviable and unmatched expertise and experience in projects and infrastructure development, including energy.

We understand development risks and contracting and have worked through numerous concessions, licenses, PPAs, FSAs, RTUs, etc. We regularly work with authorities, developers, and contractors and assist them in negotiating contracts in India, ensuring a viable bankable, and appropriately risk-allocated project. We have deep knowledge of international frameworks like FIDIC Contracting and their applicability-based modification to India.

Our expertise has also helped us assist our clients in their efforts to monetize or acquire assets.

The projects, infrastructure, and energy team works closely with our real estate team, our banking and finance team, and our disputes, litigation, and enforcement team to provide comprehensive legal services to our clients.
